In this project, Testhouse focused on ensuring optimal performance for an online evaluation system hosted on Azure. Our goal was to identify and address potential performance bottlenecks to guarantee a smooth and efficient user experience for the system’s users.

Azure Performance Bottlenecks

Problem Statement

  • Defining Performance Metrics: Defining appropriate performance metrics for effective system testing was a concern, leading to delays in the testing process and inaccurate results.
  • Difficulty Simulating Real-World User Behavior: The customer’s online evaluation system had difficulties simulating real-world user behaviour and traffic patterns, making it challenging to identify the point at which the system became overwhelmed, leading to performance issues.
  • Complex Configurations and Setups: The online evaluation system had different configurations and setups based on various scenarios, making it challenging to set up the testing environment accurately.
  • Significant Load Anticipated: Load testing was crucial as the system was expected to handle a high load, with 400,000 students anticipated to take an online exam.


  • Test Strategy and Test Plan: Testhouse defined a comprehensive Test Strategy and prepared a detailed Test Plan specifically for load testing.
  • Performance Metrics Definition: Testhouse assisted the customer in defining performance metrics effectively. This included identifying key performance indicators, defining benchmarks, and establishing clear testing objectives.
  • Replication of System: Testhouse replicated the customer’s online evaluation system and established an identical testing environment for performance testing, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
  • Realistic User Behavior Scenarios: Testhouse created realistic user behavior scenarios to simulate real-world usage patterns. This helped identify potential performance issues and provided recommendations for improvement on the customer’s online evaluation system.


  • Reduced Cost of Infrastructure: Optimized testing strategies and accurate results led to a reduction in the cost of infrastructure.
  • Improved Efficiency by 2x: Testing efficiency was improved significantly, doubling the rate of work completion.
  • Delivered in 4.5 Weeks: Despite the challenges, the project was delivered in a timely manner within 4.5 weeks, meeting the customer’s expectations and deadlines.
